Places of Interest

The greater Pretoria/Tshwani area is rich in history and offers visitors a large selection of Historical and general interest sites and buildings to visit.
The following are well worth a visit:

African Window

Location: Pretoria Central, Visagie Street.
This is the National Cultural History Museum's newest centre for exhibitions and living culture. Appreciation for culture and traditions is promoted through community involvement, educational activities and programs comprising song, dance and much more. A coffee shop also providing traditional meals (reservations required), a traditional craft shop, conference facilities, guided tours, and archaeology programmed.

Fort Klapperkop

Location: Johan Rissik Drive.
This fort was build by the Zuid-Afrikaanse Republiek under President Paul Kruger and declared a National Monument in 1938. It affords one beautiful views of the city.

SAAF Memorial

Location: Old Johannesburg Road, to the west of the city.
Build on Bays Hill, this memorial offers a clear view of the Air Force Base in Zwartkopand the top of the Pretoria Voortrekker Monument. The design takes the shape of a triangular star-pattern comprised of three wings, of which one forms a neutral chapel for small services. The Garden of Remembrance is in honor of the approximately 3000 members of the SAAF who died during war.

SA Mint and Coin World

Location: Off Old Johannesburg Road.
The Mint's history dates back to 1892 when Paul Kruger ordered a mint press from Germany. The press is still in working order and can be seen at the museum. The Mint's modern factory was opened in 1992 and is regarded as one of the most modern mints in the world. Its museum, Coin World, has an excellent display of coins and medallions. Gold and silver items and coins are offered for sale.

Centurion lake and Musical Fountain

Location: On the Hennops River off John Vorster Drive.
The man-made lake of 7,5 hectare in the original bed of the Hennops River. It is 600 meters long and between 75 and 150 meters wide. The modern Centurion Mall is located on the western shore of the lake.
A Musical fountain is part of the Centurion Lake and shoppers and diners at the numerous restaurants and coffee shops located in the area enjoy the display of 280 lights and water jets shooting up to 30 meters into the air on the note of sweet melodies in the evening.

The Voortrekker Monument.


Location: The Area known as Voortrekker Heritage site. In is situated on a hill between Centurion and Pretoria.
The Voortrekker Monument dominates the skyline between Pretoria and centurion. Visitors can enjoy a walk through the museum, assent to the top of the building by staircase or lift and enjoy an unsurpassed view of Pretoria. Other Amenities include Restaurants and shops, Art Gallery, Star gazing, a safe picnic area, horse riding, ox wagon rides and many other interesting activities.

Supersport Park

Location: C/n of South and West streets Centurion.
This International cricket stadium is home to the Titans cricket team is a test venue well loved and enjoyed by International and local cricketers and spectators alike.
